What you’ll find on this page…
When I first started my plant-based journey, I had no idea where to start so I aimed at making small changes and swapping out everyday items for their vegan versions. Here are some of my favorite vegan products and also my vegan pantry staples. I hope these resources help you to see how easy it is to live a plant-based life. Please email me, comment here on the blog, or connect with me on Instagram with any questions or feedback!
My favorite vegan products
I usually shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Wegman’s, or a local chain like Shoprite. The good news is more and more grocery stores are selling vegan products! Some of these may seem expensive but in reality you save a lot of money by not buying meat or fish and by not going to the deli counter. I spend much less on groceries now than I did before I went plant-based.
Prices are rounded up and will vary from store to store.
This butter is the best I’ve found to replace the taste of real butter. You can now find it at most grocery stores and even at Target!
When you’re baking Enjoy brand has a lot of different options for chocolate chips.
You will see a pattern here, I really enjoy Miyokos products! All flavors of this cheese wheel are delicious and perfect when you’re building a vegan cheese plate.
These cheese slices are great on a sandwich and taste closest to actual American cheese that I’ve found.
I think this may have a different label now but just look for Almond and Cashew blend. This is what I use in my cereal or oatmeal. It’s so creamy and delicious!
This tastes exactly the same as regular mayonnaise, if not better (my husband agrees!). I do not miss real mayo at all. I like the original flavor.
I love all of the Beyond Meat products! They’re so good on the grill or in a pan. Try the burgers and meat crumbles too!
Nada Moo is my current favorite brand of dairy-free ice cream. I’ve only seen it at Whole Foods so far but it’s definitely worth seeking out.
Make sure to get unsweetened. This a good brand and so is Silk Cashew milk. A lot of plant-based recipes call for unsweetened nut milk and I always go with Cashew because it’s the creamiest.
My vegan pantry staples
My list of pantry staples grows weekly as I find out about new cool plant-based ingredients that add flavor and texture to my favorite meals. I will list here the ones I use most often and never let myself run out of. Are there any products I’ve missed that you can’t live without??
Price: $3 each
I use vegetable and mushroom stock on a weekly basis in soups, sauces, casseroles, sauteing veggies, you name it. Sometimes I make my own vegetable stock but when I don’t, I use this.
I usually keep a large jar of cashews on hand at all times because I use them in so many recipes, including cashew cream or in most vegan cheese sauces I make. When blended they add a rich creamy texture to any dish.
This is more of a fridge item than a pantry one but I always have it on hand for a tofu scramble or when I want to add an easy protein to dinner.
